After months of rumors, Bethesda and Virtuos did indeed shadow-drop The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Despite just coming out, you can actually play it on VR thanks to fans.

While mods for games like this were already expected to come out over time, some mods have already come up with a way so that players can check out Oblivion on their VR headset.
Oblivion on VR
@Tyrielwood just shared this look at Oblivion Remastered in VR, and it’s looking pretty smooth so far. Check this out:
Admittedly, no mods have been published to download yet, but several modders online are already looking under the hood of the game to see just where they can put their improvements. Here’s another VR attempt via LunchAndVR:
It’s not clear when a mod will be officially published, but for now, fans have a good idea of what a mod would look like if they were able to play Oblivion Remastered on VR. With some of these mods requiring very extensive rigs, maybe it needs a bit more tweaking before it can play smoother on a VR headset.
How to Try Out Oblivion on VR
According to RoadtoVR, the mod isn’t finalized yet, but there is a way to test it out by downloading Praydog’s UEVER mod plus some test profiles that are currently being shared. One is a 3DOF profile from Pande4360 that includes VR performance adjustments; the other is a 6DOF profile from Keyser.
It also goes without saying that you will also need to have an original copy of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered to be able to get access to the mod.
Skyrim and Mods
With Skyrim notoriously modded to death during its lifetime, it’s pretty interesting that the same thing could now be happening for Oblivion. We don’t know what kind of silly (or awesome) things could be brought to Oblivion by modders, but I always thought that this was half the fun of the Bethesda games and why they’re still so popular even though they have a tendency to be a bit janky.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is now available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
