Everyone remembers Alien vs. Predator the movie that came out in 2004, but a decade before that there was Alien vs. Predator the game which came out for the Atari Jaguar. The game got generally great reviews, and now it looks like a studio is looking to make a Xenomorph game

Xenomorph is an upcoming game from Athena Worlds, and it’s being directed by a video game vet who has helped define the survival horror genre when it comes to video games.
Xenomorph Game Announced
As per the official press release, Xenomorph is the spiritual successor of 1994’s Alien vs. Predator, and it’s being directed by Jane Whittaker, who was also behind the release of AVP 30 years ago. Whittaker says about Xenomorph:
“It is a very personal journey for me… So many people still talk about our work on AvP to this day, with a massive following. I have been asked for over 30 years to create my next survival and stealth strategy game. I am beyond thrilled to say that thanks to generous support my day has come.”
No gameplay has been released for Xenomorph yet, but we do have a logline for the game which simply reads, “After crash landing on planet XL-243 you quickly find you are not alone and the battle for survival begins.”
The game has also been described to be a ‘landmark open world game of exploration, survival, high stakes tension, and combat.’
Alien vs. Predator for the Atari Jaguar
The original AVP was a corridor shooter that was lauded for its game design back when it released, and it still has a reputation for being a great entry in the survival horror genre. You can check out some of the gameplay here:
It’s not clear if Xenomorph is going to be embracing the retro aesthetic, but other modern games have also been going the pixelized route to add to the vintage aesthetic; just look at what Warhammer 40,000 did with their Boltgun spinoff.
Perfect Timing
After the success of Alien: Romulus, it does seem like 20th Century Studios is gearing up for a revival of Alien vs. Predator soon. We know that Elle Fanning’s character in Predator: Badlands is a Weyland-Yutani android, and we should be expecting some kind of crossover in the next few years.
It’s a good time to be an Alien/Predator fan now, and a game which is a follow-up to a 90s classic should be a treat for any longtime fan.
For now, no release date has been announced for Xenomorph, but it is expected to release for PC, Xbox, and PS5.
