Naughty Dog has announced their next upcoming game as Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. In the meantime, they'll keep milking The Last of Us for as long as they can, after having announced a new new re-release of both games in one package: The Last of Us Complete.
If all the existing remasters and remakes aren't enough, The Last of Us Part I and Part II have been announced for a complete package that comes with a lot of extra goods.
The Last of Us Complete Edition
As officially revealed by Naughty Dog, they company is going to be releasing The Last of Us: Complete Edition which comes with the latest remake of The Last of Us Part I and The Last of Us Part II Remastered. Here’s the launch trailer:
So far, only the digital bundle is available now, but there is also a Collector’s Edition which comes with a steelbook case including discs, four lithographic art prints, and The Last of Us: American Dreams comics #1-4—complete with new cover art.
How Many Times Can ND Keep Releasing the Same Game?
For context, since 2013, Naughty Dog has released six Last of Us titles—7 if the Complete Edition is counted.

- The Last of Us Part II (2020)
- The Last of Us Part I (2022)
- The Last of Us Part II Remastered (2024)

In total there are three versions of the first Last of Us game, and the second one has two. There was also supposed to be an upcoming multiplayer game based on The Last of Us Part II which was said to be the follow-up to Factions, but Naughty Dog opted to work on Intergalactic rather than just repackage TLOU again.
The ‘Complete’ Story?
click to enlargeWith the Complete Edition being said to tell the ‘Complete Story’, some fans are worried that this means that there won’t be a Part III to close out Ellie’s arc. Game director Neil Druckmann had said before that there may not be a third game, but others are hopeful that a trilogy will eventually be completed—and ND can re-release remasters of that game as well—with guaranteed ‘Complete Edition Ultimate Remake Bundles’ for years to come.
In the meantime, it looks like this will be it for The Last of Us until Intergalactic comes out. Hopefully the series on HBO already has an idea of where the story could continue after the end of Part II.
The Last of Us Complete Edition is now available on digital, but if you want to wait for the physical Collector’s Edition, it will be made available on July 10.
