The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Switch 2 versions will run at 60FPS. Recent entries in the mainline series have been criticized for their performance, and it seems the new powerful Nintendo hardware will spring new life into previous titles.

There's no denying that the Switch 2 will be a much beefier console capable of running the likes of Cyberpunk 2077. Naturally, Game Freak seems to be hard at work to improve the experience of titles released in the original Switch.

Shared via the Nintendo Today! App (via Nintendo Life), the company revealed that both Scarlet and Violet would be running at a buttery smooth 60 frames-per-second.

Is The Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Switch 2 Upgrade Free?

Yes, the Scarlet & Violet Switch 2 upgrades will be free for all players that own the game. Nintendo has confirmed these titles among the ones getting free enhanced versions.

Scarlet & Violet are not particularly pretty games

During the Switch's lifespan, Game Freak has been very active, launching five titles thus far, with a sixth coming in the form of Legends: Z-A later this year. Out of those, two have been remakes (Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee and Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl) as well as the first entry in the Legends subseries, Arceus.

The remaining two were the eighth (Sword & Shield) and ninth (Scarlet & Violet) generations of the mainline series. Anticipation was high, and despite strong sales (as usual for the franchise), it's safe to say they didn't necessarily meet fan expectations. Particularly Scarlet & Violet, which suffered from shocking performance issues.

Both games were massively panned for their subpar graphics and horrid performance in open spaces. Defenders suggested that there was little Game Freak could do to properly optimize the experience with the original Nintendo Switch's limitations. That said, when you have games like Tears of the Kingdom or The Witcher 3 port running as smoothly as they do, there's hardly room for excuse.

Hopefully, more information will be revealed in the coming days. Summer Game Fest looks like a proper way to tell the gaming world the latest mainline Pokemon entries will finally be playable after almost three years since they were released.
