Mutants may be the main focus of Season 2’s Hellfire Gala, but that doesn’t mean that non-mutant heroes in the game aren’t going to get some love.
NetEase previously revealed that there would be some incoming cosmetics based on artist Peach Momoko’s designs, and they’ve just showcased one of the first costumes coming to the game for Peni Parker—plus a new MCU skin for the Sorcerer Supreme, Dr. Strange.
Yatsukahagi Peni Parker and MOM Doctor Strange
As per the official announcement, Yatsukahagi Peni Parker and Multiverse of Madness Doctor Strange are set to come to the Marvel Rivals store on April 17. Check this out:
“Harness chaos with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and join the tsuchigumo spirits with Peni Parker's mystical Yatsukahagi! The mountain awakens - and the multiverse breaks.”
Looking at Strange’s outfit first, he actually had several looks for Multiverse of Madness, but this one is specifically based on ‘Zombie Strange’—a resurrected body of ‘Defender Strange’ that is put together with Dark Magic; one of its most unique details is the cape which looks to be made entirely out of demons, and the cowl is a bunch of devil hands surrounding Strange’s head—truly something out of the mind of Evil Dead director Sam Raimi who also directed MOM.
As for Peni’s skin, it’s part of a larger series of mythical Japanese skins based on the alternate Marvel world of Peach Momoko’s Demon Days.
Peach Momoko’s Demon Days
click to enlargeDemon Days is one of the new Marvel alternate universes from artist Peach Momoko. The comic debuted back in 2021 and introduced a Marvel universe where the characters are all based on Japanese folklore.
The main character for the series was Sai (Psylocke) and in the story she runs into alternate versions of characters like Venom and Jubilee. She also has a wolf companion named Logan who has healing powers. Now who could that be?
Peni is just one of several Peach Momoko-designed skins that will be coming to the game. There have also been designs revealed for The Punisher, Luna Snow, and Hela. With the aesthetic being very specific, we should expect more reveals in the future—probably based on how well this first batch of skins will be able to sell.
New skins for Peni and Strange arrive on April 17. Marvel Rivals is now available for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
