Ghost of Yotei will feature three unique cinematic modes that will add a ton of replayability to the game. Returning from Tsushima is Kurosawa mode, but players will have two new ones to mess around with: Takashi Miike and Shinichirō Watanabe.

Announced during the July 10 Ghost of Yotei showcase, the three cinematic modes will be available from day one. Miike is a renowned film director known for 13 Assassins, a relatively recent samurai movie, released in 2010. Watanabe, on the other hand, is an iconic Anime director, creator of Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop.

The Miike mode will feature more intense close-ups, increased bloodshed, and a grimmer aesthetic with additional mud in the terrain. As for the Watanabe mode, it'll focus on the music, with lo-fi beats to relax and write haikus.

Will Ghost of Yotei Get a Kurosawa Mode?

Yes. As mentioned, the iconic Kurosawa mode from Ghost of Tsushima will return in Ghost of Yotei.

Kurosawa mode is coming back

Just like in the previous game, you'll be able to play the game entirely in black and white, with added cinematic flair such as film grain, an audio filter, and an extra dose of wind across the environments.

A neat thing about Yotei is that the game will feature full Japanese lip sync right from release, meaning your immersion will be completely safe if you decide to toss in one of the new cinematic modes that will also be available from launch.

In case you need a reminder, Ghost of Yotei is set to come out this October 2 for PlayStation 5. No mention of a potential PC port has been made at this moment, but don't hold your breath for it any time soon.
