It looks like CD Projekt Red might have a surprise in store during Summer Game Fest. Michał Nowakowski, joint CEO of the studio, teased fans with a very exciting message on social media.

On May 29, after CD Projekt Red was confirmed as one of the developers set to have a presence at SGF, Nowakowski noticed that fan speculation started going wild:

"I see a bit of creative speculation in the comments section :) Please remember that next week we are launching Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on Nintendo Switch 2. So keep calm, etc ;)"

While at first, it might look like the CEO is easing fan expectations, it could be the exact opposite. The biggest tell is that the Switch 2 edition of Cyberpunk 2077 will be out by the time SGF rolls around. What could they possibly announce at the event related to a port of a game originally released in 2020?

Ciri will be the protagonist of The Witcher 4

That has led to fans expecting something bigger. The vast majority are thinking it could be related to the upcoming Witcher 4 project, which will see Ciri take the protagonist role from Geralt. At least that's what the first teaser that debuted last year at The Game Awards seemed to suggest.

We've not seen anything about the project since the trailer reveal. However, that's not the only rumored game that CD Projekt Red could showcase at Summer Game Fest. Back in 2022, the studio announced a The Witcher remake, going basically radio silent ever since.

Of course, things like a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel are not completely off the table, but there's wishful thinking and then there's CD Projekt announcing another monstrous AAA game even before we see gameplay for Witcher 4.

In any case, this should definitely build excitement for Summer Game Fest. The main festivities are set to kick off on June 6. It might not be quite E3 levels of excitement, but it should still be a fun time.
