Is Mega Man really a top priority for Capcom? Well, the company seems to think so.
In a recent shareholder meeting, Capcom executives were asked about future projects involving Mega Man, stating that the IP remains one of Capcom's "most important IPs."

A follow-up question regarding Mega Man's merch sales sheds light on the character's popularity, particularly outside Japan, as Capcom revealed they receive a high volume of inquiries on this subject. This could refer to companies reaching out to obtain licenses to sell Mega Man products or looking to import official Capcom merchandise.
It's no secret that the Blue Bomber is one of the most iconic characters in videogames, but Capcom hasn't been too keen on bringing him back to the limelight in any way, shape, or form in recent years.
The latest project featuring the iconic Capcom character was Mega Man X Dive, a free-to-play gacha game. For a more traditional game, we'd have to go back to 2018, when Mega Man 11 graced consoles and PC.
Capcom has been focused on bringing back the old classics via the Legacy Collections. The original Mega Man series, as well as the Mega Man X, Mega Man Zero/ZX, and Battle Network spin-offs, have gotten the Legacy Collection treatment. But it's clear fans are already craving for something more than a nostalgia compilation.
The studio is perhaps going through one of its best periods in terms of sales, with the likes of Monster Hunter, a revitalized Street Fighter, and the Resident Evil franchise at the forefront. Still, there are plenty of unexplored and abandoned IPs that Capcom could still look to revive, with Mega Man earning himself a spot in our list.
Is it time for a Mega Man 12, perhaps a new tale in X and Zero's story, or the return of Lan Hikari and Mega Man.exe? Everyone seems to think so. The (blue) ball is in your court, Capcom.
