Zenless Zone Zero version 2.1, "The Impending Crash of Waves," is finally coming this July 16, 2025, at 11 AM (GMT+8), filled with great new events and rewards, new and returning characters (and their W-Engines), and Summer-themed costumes for some characters.
Find out more about who will be featured in phases 1 and 2, and help with your decision on who to pull for in this update.
Version 2.1 brings in new characters Yuzuha and Alice from the Spook Shack faction, and we will also welcome the return of the amazing S-Rank characters from Hollow Special Operations Section 6, Miyabi and Yanagi. They are all characters with great kits, and it can be hard to decide between all of them.
Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.1 - Character, W-Engine Banners, & Who To Pull For
Like other Zenless Zone Zero players, I'm excited and torn for the upcoming banners in version 2.1. Thankfully, I have fewer things to worry about since I already have my M2 Miyabi with her signature W-Engine. Find out more on whether it is better to pull for Miyabi (since she's a strong DPS unit) or the other featured characters will be worth your Polychromes.
Phase 1 - Ukinami Yuzuha
If you want to have a Physical Support character for your team, then you should have Yuzuha in your character roster. She will be amazing for any Anomaly team builds that you have. (One of my must-have pulls for this version)
Ukinami Yuzuha is from Spook Shack ("Whispered Tales" banner), one of the newest factions introduced in Zenless Zone Zero. She is an S-Rank Support character who deals Physical damage. She seems like she could work with any team due to her Core Passive, where inflicting Candy Fright will give her team a 37% attack boost based on Yuzuha's Base Attack (max of 1200 points). Not only that, but her team's damage is increased by 15% for 30 seconds, and the duration is refreshed when retriggered.
As stated, she will be great for any Anomaly teams because of her Additional Ability (though she seems to be viable in most teams). Having her in a team with characters like Jane, Miyabi, Vivian, or honestly, any Anomaly character will be great. Her kit works not only for Physical Anomaly teams, but she buffs all the elements equally.
These are the characters with higher rates during her banner:
- Ukinami Yuzuha - S-Rank (Physical, Support)
- Piper Wheel - A-Rank (Physical, Anomaly)
- Billy Kid - A-Rank (Physical, Attack)
As for the A-Ranks that are featured in the same banner, Piper's a pretty good alternative to Jane. Her damage output is decent and will even be boosted once you have Yuzuha in your team.
Yuzuha's best-in-slot (BiS) W-Engine "Metanukimorphosis" will also be featured in its banner.
- Metanukimorphosis - S-Rank (Support)
- Roaring Ride - A-Rank (Anomaly)
- Starlight Engine Replica - A-Rank (Attack)
Phase 1 - Hoshimi Miyabi
If you want an amazing Ice Anomaly DPS with great damage output, then you should totally get Miyabi.
I think Miyabi had always been the favorite in Zenless Zone Zero, and rightfully so. Her damage is still unparalleled and can clear most content, even with badly built supports (I struggle with getting good stats for everyone). I recommend getting her to M2 since it gives her insane boosts.
- Hoshimi Miyabi - S-Rank (Ice, Anomaly)
- Piper Wheel - A-Rank (Physical, Anomaly)
- Billy Kid - A-Rank (Physical, Attack)
Getting Miyabi's W-Engine might actually be one of my greatest investments since it makes her damage even crazier. If you have any pulls to spare, I say you should get it.
- Hailstorm Shrine - S-Rank (Anomaly)
- Roaring Ride - A-Rank (Anomaly)
- Starlight Engine Replica - A-Rank (Attack)
Phase 2 - Alice Thymefield
If you don't have Jane and want to have a Physical Anomaly character, then you can consider getting Alice for your team.
Alice Thymefield is another character under the Spook Shack faction, featuring in her banner, "Sworn to Noble Courage". While she initially only seemed viable as a Sub-DPS in the beta, she's been reworked to be good as a potential hypercarry DPS. However, you'll need to put in more effort in building her and practicing your rotations.
Both Soukaku and Seth are amazing characters, with the former providing great attack buffs for Ice-centric teams while Seth for Anomaly teams. So, getting their dupes if you're pulling for Alice is always welcome.
- *NEW! Alice Thymefield - S-Rank (Physical, Anomaly)
- Soukaku - A-Rank (Ice, Support)
- Seth Lowell - A-Rank (Electric, Defense)
I'd only recommend getting Alice's W-Engine "Practiced Perfection" if you're looking to go all out on her, since it is considered her BiS. There is the A-Rank Electro-Lip Gloss W-Engine, which you can use as an alternative.
- *NEW! Practiced Perfection - S-Rank (Anomaly)
- Bashful Demon - A-Rank (Support)
- Peacekeeper - Specialized - A-Rank (Defense)
Phase 2 - Tsukishiro Yanagi
If you already have Miyabi, then getting Yanagi is a great option (assuming you still have pulls left). However, she's great on her own with other characters such as Burnice.
Yanagi is a great Electric Anomaly character who's able to deal significant damage. She will be great in teams with Miyabi since they are from the same faction and Specialty. She's also viable with Trigger as a Stunner or Burnice for off-field damage and support.
- Tsukishiro Yanagi - S-Rank (Electric, Anomaly)
- Soukaku - A-Rank (Ice, Support)
- Seth Lowell - A-Rank (Electric, Defense)
If you are looking to really build Yanagi to her full potential and invest in her, then you should get her W-Engine "Timeweaver."
- Timeweaver - S-Rank (Anomaly)
- Bashful Demon - A-Rank (Support)
- Peacekeeper - Specialized - A-Rank (Defense)
