The Switch 2 will be filled with new games and improved ports of older titles. With games like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet getting vast improvements, fans will want to dive back into them. Luckily, they don’t need to start from scratch because cloud saves will let these players continue their progress.

Cloud saves have been crucial to these past gaming generations, allowing players to keep their progress and achievements. Backups have also been needed, since you never know what kind of virus or system issue can delete your progress. Gamers might also have to reset their system to factory settings when something extreme happens, which is why these backups are essential.

How to Backup Switch 2 Saves to the Cloud

Follow these steps to backup your Switch 2 saves:

  • Pick a game and press the “+” button
  • Choose “Save Data Cloud.”
  • Backup your save

It’s really that simple. Just know that you will be backing up your most recent save, so if you haven’t beaten Tears of the Kingdom yet, the save available for redownload might be confusing. Still, for players who don’t want to start from the beginning, this is an excellent option to have.

How Do You Activate Save Cloud on Nintendo Switch 2?

You need an NSO account to back up your saves on the cloud.

The base NSO and NSO + Expansion Pack have the save cloud feature, so it’s up to the user to decide what membership they want. If players wish to access Nintendo 64, SEGA Genesis, Game Boy Advance, and GameCube games, they will want the Expansion Pack. But if cloud saves and online play are your only concern, save some money by getting the base version.
