Monster Hunter Wilds’ Arch-Tempered Uth Duna is finally here, and players are having a tough time dealing with this hulking brute of a leviathan.
In this guide, get to know everything about this supercharged version of the Apex of the Scarlet Forest, including the best ways to defeat it and much more!
How to Beat Arch-Tempered Uth Duna
Like Arch-Tempered Rey Dau before it, AT Uth Duna is a difficult fight that you can’t just breeze through. Its health pool is massive, and its attacks can one-shot unsuspecting players.
The best way to beat AT Uth Duna is by working together as a team. The leviathan’s solid water veils are a problem, as they mitigate most damage, but its head remains open to critical hits. Make sure to focus your attacks there while others work on removing its water armor.
When its health drops below a certain threshold, it will submerge itself into the waters. This is actually a great opportunity to use the environment to your advantage. Pull down ancient ruins whenever AT Uth Duna is nearby to deliver a heavy blow to its head. This usually forces the massive leviathan to retreat back into the water.
Another trick many veteran players use is to hit AT Uth Duna with a well-timed flash pod whenever it soars into the air for a massive slam attack. This can bring it down instantly, which is especially helpful during clutch moments when a teammate is about to get carted.
AT Uth Duna isn't a complex fight, and it’s considered the easiest Apex to hunt. But it’s still big, and it uses its water-based abilities to throw off your flow. Make sure to bring Thunder-element weapons or armor that negates Waterblight. Nullberries are also a great help.
Arch-Tempered Uth Duna Armor and Skills
Once you complete the AT Uth Duna hunt, you can unlock the Uth Duna Y armor from Gemma after collecting AT Uth Duna tickets. A single hunt won’t guarantee all the parts needed for crafting, so you’ll likely need to grind a few more runs.
AT Uth Duna’s armor skills are similar to the base version, featuring Tool Specialist, which reduces the cooldown of Specialized Tools like Mantles. It also includes Peak Performance, which boosts your attack when you’re at full health, perfect for early encounters like sneak attacks or successful mounts at the start of a hunt.
Its armor set skill, Uth Duna’s Cover, is still here too. It gives a massive defense boost when you have a Specialized Tool like the Rocksteady Mantle equipped, making you tankier in tougher fights.
What makes the Uth Duna Y Armor stand out is its additional gem slots compared to the regular version. If you’re already using Uth Duna gear in your build, this upgraded set is worth considering for its expanded customization potential.
