Bungie has officially revealed the minimum PC specs for Marathon, and it's clear they're aiming for accessibility right out of the gate.
If you've been worried your setup wouldn't cut it, you can probably breathe easy—because the bar isn't sky-high. The game's upcoming alpha test (starting April 23) doesn't require a top-tier rig.
According to Bungie's announcement on X and official support pages, most mid-range gaming PCs from the past five to six years should be good to go.
The aim seems simple enough: let as many people in as possible without needing a hardware upgrade.
This is a clever choice for a PvP shooter aiming to stand out. Here's what Bungie says you'll need at minimum:
- CPU: Intel Core i5-6600 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600
- RAM: 8 GB
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB), AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT (4 GB), or Intel Arc A580 (8 GB)
- VRAM: 4 GB
- DirectX: Version 12 with Feature Level 12_1
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit with the latest service pack
A quick heads-up: Bungie points out that certain Intel Arc GPUs might not perform as expected. If you're using that hardware, it might be a good idea to wait and see if early testers report any compatibility issues.
All things considered, this baseline is a surprisingly modest choice for a competitive online shooter in 2025.
It's obvious that Bungie aims to keep players with less powerful systems in mind, especially given their effort to set Marathon apart from Destiny.
Whether it's only for the alpha or remains until the September 23 launch, it's clear that Bungie's next big step is welcoming anyone eager to check it out.
