Genshin Impact characters don't get a wardrobe refreshed that often. Version 5.8 will finally add skins for two of the most oppressively popular characters in-game, Bennett and Yelan, who have been a mainstay part of half the team composition since their introduction.
Usually, whenever the game adds skins, there is some story tied to them. Bennett and his laughably tragic bad luck could be the center of it in the upcoming update.
Here's how you can obtain both Bennett and Yelan skins in Genshin Impact update 5.8.
How To Get The Bennett Skin in Genshin Impact

+ 2You can get Bennett's skin in Genshin Impact by playing the 5.8 main event, Sunspray Summer Resort.
It is the same as any other free 4-star skins we had in the past. The event will be available from July 30 to August 18, 2025. All you have to do is play its mini games and accumulate points. Once you've had enough, you'll receive the reward.
If you miss the event, you can still acquire the skin, but it will no longer be free. Instead, you'll have to spend 1680 Genesis Crystals (around $30/£27), a currency that can only be bought with real money. You'll find the skin in the in-game shop's "Character Outfit" section with other similar past skins.
Genesis Crystal is also part of the Welkin Moon subscription, rewarding 90 Primogems every day and 300 Crystals every month. You'll have to get it over six times to cover the cost. Welkin Moon will cost around $5/£5 every month.
How To Get The Yelan Skin in Genshin Impact
click to enlarge+ 2Unlike Benny's skin in Genshin Impact, Yelan's skin is not free. That means you'll have to cough out real money and buy the Genesis Crystal to acquire the outfit through the in-game shop.
Because Yelan's skin is also 4-star, it'll cost 1680 Genesis Crystals to obtain it. However, there will be a "sale" throughout the update 5.8 for the skin, discounting its price to 1350 Genesis Crystals.
So, the skin will go live on 5.8, and if you buy during the update (before September 9, 2025), you'll need 1350 Genesis Crystals. After which, the price for the same will go up to 1680 Genesis Crystals. You'll probably save around $6 if you choose to buy early.
So far, of all the skins released, all the ones for 4-star characters have been free to acquire during the version of their release, while all 5-star characters cost premium in-game currency with a similar discount scheme.
