Animal Crossing tier list (March 2024) - Best villagers

A collage of Animal Crossing villagers
March 22, 2024: We've updated our Animal Crossing tier list.

There are some Animal Crossing characters you just can’t seem to avoid. Whether it’s on merchandise, fan art, or even just noticing the same grey cat in the background of every single town tour. Some of them are loved for their personalities, like Audie the peppy orange fox. Others are just so cute you couldn’t help but want to see them more often. These are always found at the top of any Animal Crossing tier list and are considered royalty at this point.

However, not every Animal Crossing villager is born equal. There are some who can only dream of this level of success, but who will never see life outside of their beach slums. There are rumours that Wart Jr. has never found an island where he’s been able to feel loved.

These are known as Animal Crossing royalty. They are the most desirable, often because of their looks. You should feel very lucky if you have one of these on your island, as you're the envy of most of the community. If you ever have the chance to impress one of these, make sure you check out a gift guide beforehand! You'll only have one chance to make a good impression.

These villagers are still incredibly popular choices, but they are a little easier to get. They are often still very pretty or unique looking, with something special setting them apart from the rest. Very often, players will have at least one of these on their island, and they will also end up with the prettiest and best house.

These villagers are the ones who probably make up the majority of your island if you've been lucky or put a lot of hours into the game. They have a lot of personality, are often still very cute, and are well worth treasuring. At this tier, subjective opinions start to form a little more heavily, but no-one should be upset to see any of these villagers.

Your average villagers

These villagers are the safe ones. They sit at a very respectable average ranking with fans, with a handful more beloved than others, but nothing too huge. These may be the kind of villagers that you started the island with, before you had met a lot of others and understood just how cool they could be. They often have quite sweet designs, but you can tell that they're more bland than the other tiers.

The most popular unpopular villagers

The D-Tier rank is where things start to really get personal. These villagers start to get really ugly and bland. Alternatively, they can look quite sweet, but their personality just isn't enough to carry them. Often, these villagers will be asked to leave if they're ever lucky enough to secure a place on the island. However, many fans will have fond memories of at least a couple of these. Perhaps they were part of the starter two, or they were kind to you when you needed it.

Full D-Tier rank list: Bones, Dizzy, Tutu, Dotty, Mira, Sprocket, Cranston, Static, Rex, Bill, Cheri, Ribbot, Snake, Chief, Nan, Julia, Celia, Sterling, Biff, Lopez, Canberra, Sydney, Gala, Pinky, Joey, Rolf, Stella, Tammy, Poncho, Walker, Papi, Tank, Fuschia, Jeremiah, Gladys, Alice, Norma, Phil, Del, Rodney, Bettina, Cole, Cyd, Avery, Annalisa, Jay, Jacob, Peggy, Kitt, Marcel, Hopper, Hugh, Maggie, Sally, Jacques, Ed, Benedict, Benjamin, Bud, Elmer, Lucy, Claude, Curlos, Simon, Dora, Pippy, Ike, Cally, Penelopse, Frank, Friga, Curly, Harry, Candi, Annalise, Robin, Buzz, Timbra, Mouse

The unpopular villagers

These villagers are some of the least popular in the entire series. They will have the worst designs, some of them bordering on awful. They are creepy, ugly, and sometimes downright offensive on the eyes. It is very unlikely that anyone has these on their island and truly loves them. If you do, consider yourself achieving some charity work here.

Full E-Tier rank list: Nana, Goose, Raddie, Quillson, Moe, Deidre, Rudy, Bruce, Megan, Nate, Bubbles, Egbert, Piper, Bertha, Chester, Olive, Bea, Maddie, Puck, Axel, Mac, Walt, Vladmir, Pango, Butch, Patty, Tex, Deli, Rodeo, Carmen, Billy, Frita, Murphy, Bella, Eunice, Stu, Doc, Blaire, Plucky, Elvis, Pierce, Twiggy, Beardo, Ken, Colton, Olaf, Pudge, Tipper, Al, Drake, Iggly, Pompom, Caroline, Spike, Kitt, Sylvia, Tammi, Kody, Louie, Big Top, Kevin, Tucker, Groucho, Gloria, Soleil, Lucha, Sandy, Truffles, Claudia, Carrie, Ursula, Huck, Peewee, Sparro, Spork, Mathilda, Admiral, Jitters, Charlise, Astrid, Cleo, Clyde, Peache, Naomi, Gigi, Angus, Mott, Vic, Hippeux, Miranda, Violet, Queenie, Becky, T-Bone, Bitty, Elise

The worst of the worst

There is absolutely nothing redeemable about these villagers. They are the worst out of the entire list. In a survey with over 110,000 responses, most of these were ranked below even the NPCs like Mabel and Redd. These inhabitants are truly hated, and are welcome on almost none of the islands in the community.

Full F-Tier rank list: Pietro, Graham, Buck, Prince, Tabby, Anchovy, Camofrog, Broccoli, Barold, Rod, Cyrano, Gaston, Derwin, Gonzo, Chops, Hamphrey, Klaus, Hans, Grizzly, Bree, Anabelle, Eloise, Leopold, Curt, Rasher, Knox, Cobb, Ricky, Rodney, Monty, Velma, Limberg, Chow, Boris, Mallary, Cashmere, Baabara, Maelle, Cesar, Snooty, Boyd, Wart Jr, Pancetti, Greta, Broffina, Rizzo
