Xbox Game Pass is getting retro games. Microsoft is looking to make the subscription service even more enticing by introducing a slew of new features, including the Retro Classics sections.
Announced on May 21, Xbox revealed that Game Pass will get a new section called Retro Classics. This feature was worked on in collaboration with Antstream Arcade, one of the biggest platforms that offers access to licensed retro games.
The initial collection has over 50 retro titles for players to try out by either downloading them or using a plethora of services in which Game Pass is available such as PC, cloud services, streaming on Smart TVs, and even Meta Quest headsets.
Some of the highlights in the collection come from Activision's old library, including Commando, Grand Prix, Kaboom!, Mech Warrior 2: 31st Century Combat, and Pitfall!

These games will include some neat modern features. For instance, they'll have achievements to give those completionists among you something to grind for. More interestingly, Xbox mentioned the ability to take on friends and players across the world in "unique challenges." While it's not explicitly stated that they'll have online play, we can only hope that's what they mean.
In any case, that's not the only new feature coming to Game Pass. For PC users, GeForce Now will be available as an extra streaming option on select titles. GeForce Now is NVIDIA's cloud gaming service, allowing players to access hundreds of games without extensive installation processes.
It's definitely a good year to be a Game Pass user thus far, and it's even getting better. Not only these new features we mentioned are coming, but one of 2024's best RPGs, Metaphor: ReFantazio is set to join the subscription service in the coming days.
That's not even mentioning the fact that one 2025 GOTY contender, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, came to the service day one.
