Stardew Valley has always been one of the most beloved farming games ever made. With a timeless 16-bit art style and numerous updates, it’s most people’s “forever game,” and we can see why. Thanks to the game’s numerous positive updates and plenty of goodwill in general, this indie darling is now Steam’s highest-rated game.

As reported by Steam 250 and Videogamer, this farming sim, created by one person, was released nine years ago and is now Steam’s most acclaimed title. Essentially being Story of Seasons on steroids, this game quickly became the belle of the ball thanks to its numerous features and addictive gameplay.

The love for Stardew Valley is warranted because numerous updates have continuously made this good game great. Fans appreciate the addition of multiplayer and various single-player options, which make this title replayable and engaging. Some people also forget that there’s action RPG-esque combat in this game, though it's still less Rune Factory as farming and relationships are the game’s major strong points.

It doesn’t look like the love for this game is going to end soon, as we expect a ton of ports for this game to come out on future consoles. The game clearly has highly optimised code, as it has been ported to various platforms with relative ease. Some fans might not realize that this game was even released on Sony’s PS Vita.

Expect more love for Stardew Valley in the future, and it will be interesting to see if there will ever be a “final” update for this game. We definitely wouldn’t call this a live-service title, but we’re interested in seeing what would happen if this game ever becomes “complete.” Until that happens, fans should just play this farming sim however they like.

Stardew Valley is available on a variety of consoles, phones, and tablets, so the craze for this title won’t stop anytime soon.
