SEGA’s upcoming Sonic Racing: Crossworlds has been victim to plenty of leaks, revealing some very interesting guest stars coming to the game. Many assumed this game would have SEGA characters, like in the previous Sonic Racing titles. It turns out that the racer is bringing Nickelodeon characters into the mix.
Leaks of the game have shown up on social media. There’s a video of Sonic racing around Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob himself is shown off as a playable character in a track based on Sonic Unleashed. A post on the Gaming Leaks subreddit has also suggested that Aang from Nickelodeon’s Avatar could also be coming.
Because Paramount Pictures distributes the Sonic movies, having these Nickelodeon characters pop up in Sonic Racing: Crossworlds makes plenty of sense. Rumors have also claimed that the TMNT cast will be coming, which makes sense. They already show up in plenty of crossover DLC, so bringing them to this game wouldn’t be unusual.
With Sony’s State of Play coming soon, as of this writing, and Summer Games Fest happening soon, we’re sure this news was supposed to be revealed in these events. Expect SEGA to keep moving forward and show the trailers off anyway, potentially confirming more of these leaks. It’s a shame it happened, but it won’t be a massive problem if the game is good.
Sonic Racing: Crossworlds doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will be available this year on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
