Nintendo has finally announced the actors who will portray Link and Zelda in Sony’s live-action Legend of Zelda movie. This is something fans have been waiting a long time for, as they have certain expectations for these characters. Based on the images shared by Nintendo, it seems like these two actors do resemble the iconic characters they will be playing.

The official Nintendo social media accounts announced that Bo Bragason will be Zelda, while Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is going to be Link. Compared to the all-star cast for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, casting lesser-known young actors seems novel in comparison. We’ll still have to wait and see how they do, but fans can imagine what they look like as these characters.

Beyond the announcement of these actors, Nintendo also confirmed that Sony’s The Legend of Zelda film will still be coming out on May 7, 2027. This is the new date announced after a decision was made to delay the film from its original March 2027 launch. At the least, it will still be coming out in that year, so it’s not a monumental change.

It’s still shocking to see Nintendo pivot to a live-action film after Illumination’s Super Mario Bros. Movie made billions at the box office as an animated production. Sony also has a spotty track record with their blockbuster movies, as their failed Spider-Man villain saga has shown. Things can always change, and we’re interested in seeing how this Zelda movie will play out.

Now that we know who will be playing Link and Zelda, it will be interesting to see if Ganondorf or other iconic characters get announced soon. In the meantime, we should prepare ourselves, since we’re actually going to see the Tri-Force and Master Sword in live-action.
