It looks like even Switch 2 developers can’t get their hands on the console, as Masahiro Sakurai supposedly had to get one through Japan’s lottery system. Many fans don’t believe this, since the Super Smash Bros. creator is working on Kirby Air Riders for the system. Still, with over 2.2 million requests from people all over the country, anything is possible.

Sakurai (via Stealth40k) tweeted about how he was able to get a pre-order for the Switch 2 via the aforementioned lottery system. This is odd since the man has worked on numerous games for Nintendo, but things can always change. Regardless of what happened, we’re sure many fans are jealous that he was able to get lucky in this lottery.

How someone like Masahiro Sakurai can’t get a Switch 2 sounds impossible, since he’s a pretty vital part of various Nintendo games. As we mentioned earlier, the man is literally working on Kirby Air Riders with his development team, so one would think that getting him this console would be a high priority. Then again, maybe he wants one for work and another to just enjoy, but that’s just mindless speculation.

Fans everywhere are having a very difficult time trying to get the Switch 2. Because the first system was such a huge success, people immediately want to get their hands on this system in order to avoid that feeling of FOMO. North America was able to avoid having to pay extra for the system, but tariffs have increased the prices of accessories like Joy-Cons and the camera.

At the least, Masahiro Sakurai is getting a Switch 2. It’s weird that he did this through the lottery system, but life is stranger than fiction.
