Ghost Of Yotei Releases This October, Surprising Everyone

In a surprise move on what everyone assumed was just another regular Tuesday, PlayStation and Suckerpunch Studios unveiled the release date for their highly anticipated samurai game, Ghost of Yotei, arriving exclusively on PlayStation 5 this October 2.

The announcement caught many off guard, as Sony dropped the bombshell via a striking new trailer and an accompanying blog post that dives into what players can expect from Ghost of Yotei.

New details about the story have emerged. At its core, Ghost of Yotei is a tale of vengeance—one that echoes the journey of Naoe in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Atsu, the game’s central protagonist, is on a personal quest to hunt down the Yotei Six, a notorious gang of outlaws responsible for killing her family.

Throughout the game, Atsu must track and eliminate each of the six: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and the formidable Lord Saito.

The Land of Ezo

Set years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei explores the aftermath of Jin’s legacy. With Jin’s passing, the mantle of the Ghost now rests on Atsu. She journeys through the land of Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido), taking in breathtaking landscapes while moving through the shadows in pursuit of her enemies.

This time, the open world is more expansive and liberating than ever. Sucker Punch Studios has refined exploration mechanics, giving players greater agency in how they hunt their targets. A notable new feature is the ability to build campfires anywhere, allowing players to rest under the stars whenever and wherever they choose.

Pre-orders for Ghost of Yotei begin next week, on May 2. Players who pre-order will receive an exclusive in-game mask and a set of seven PSN avatars.
