Donkey Kong Bananza has been getting plenty of love now that it’s officially released, quickly becoming the Switch 2’s go-to game. It’s hard to blame them, as this game is giving fans of 3D platformers everything they want from the genre, and then some. The game even has a popular sculpting mode called DK Artist, letting players carve out their own creations.
Unfortunately, that last part has led to some obvious repercussions, as fans are now making Donkey Shlongs to amuse their friends. It’s exactly what most adults feared when they first saw this mode in action, and could lead to some bans if players aren’t careful.
This post on X quickly gained notoriety, as a fan showed off their friend’s “banana” sculpture. Hilariously, the Donkey Kong Bananza-playing friend insisted on showing off their art piece, as the post says they were called on GameChat for it. Naturally, fans jokingly called for game bans, though some of them are half-expecting this because that’s how fast Nintendo ninjas work.
Automaton West posted an article about these phallic-shaped sculptures getting players banned on GameChat, but their post has since been deleted. Perhaps they jumped the gun, but as of the time of writing, there are no reports of anyone being banned. Fans wouldn’t put it past Nintendo to do that, but the lack of follow-up could mean the coast is clear for these immature artists.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom fans are probably getting flashbacks to that time when players wouldn’t stop posting their creations, many of which were dong-related. It’s an expected part of games that give players creation tools, and Donkey Kong Bananza might be the latest title that enables this behavior. Given how strict Nintendo has been with online behavior and console modding, fans just need to brace themselves if this leads to any major actions.
