Just when we thought CD Projekt Red was done with Cyberpunk 2077, the devs turn around and shock us with a new update. It’s not just an update for the Switch 2 version either, as the devs are teasing something big with update 2.3. This is really surprising, especially since the sequel is already in pre-production.
CDPR Community Director Marcin Momot announced the new update will come at the end of June, promising that details will be revealed soon. Game Director Pawel Sasko also teased that this would be big, even saying that he’s “taking care of the update personally,” which is saying a lot. Fans are now curious as to what this update will add, since the game is more than good after the Phantom Liberty expansion.
Before fans start getting too excited, the devs made it clear that Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.3 will not add a third-person mode. Many gamers are still devastated that this doesn’t exist in the game, with the sequel also seemingly staying in first-person. We understand why CDPR want to focus on first-person gameplay, though the point-of-view does make customizing V feel pointless.
It’s hard to believe that this game launched in a really poor state, especially after all these major improvements. Still, fans will never forget how poorly optimized this open-world RPG was when it came out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. How this game went from barely playable on PS4 to being a Switch 2 launch title is still surprising to us.
