The pre-order period for Nintendo’s Switch 2 has started. Fans have already started lining up in game stores and waiting for hours on end, just to say that they’re getting this system. It’s tempting to try lining up for the system, both in real life and through digital means, but fans should take a step back.
You know how your girlfriend keeps saying “just wait for the Switch 2?” in a tired and defeated tone? Listen to her because she’s right.
Whether it’s your girlfriend, boyfriend, or even parent, they all have a point. Putting in hours of your life waiting for a brief window to get the system isn’t a good use of your time. It might seem impossible now, but the Switch 2 will soon be readily available, and you won’t have to go through all this waiting.
FOMO, the feeling of missing out, is prevalent among everyone, so the need for this system can feel bigger than it is. Seeing the trailer for this new console can instantly make fans dislike their current Switch, due to its limited power. But if fans can clear their mind for a bit, they’ll remember just how great the OG Switch is.
It might not have Cyberpunk 2077 or Split/Fiction like the Switch 2, but the Switch is still home to plenty of great games. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom might not be 60FPS on your Switch, but it’s still a complete open-world experience. Kirby and the Forgotten Land might not have that extra DLC, but it’s still packed with hours of content.
Since it might be a while before this console becomes readily available, gamers should take their time and enjoy what they have. We imagine that anyone anticipating this system has more than one console, so they can work through their backlog while waiting.

The Switch 2 will make an impact, as stories of demand for this system remain relevant. We’re not saying it’s a bad console and people shouldn’t buy it, but they shouldn’t spend every waking hour hoping for a slot. Enjoy your life, play games, and spend time with your partner - there are plenty of things you can do while waiting.
