When Mega Evolution burst onto the scene in Pokémon X and Y, fans instantly fell in love. The mechanic gave old favorites a new coat of paint—power boosts, ability changes, and often jaw-droppingly cool designs.

It was more than a gimmick; it gave underappreciated, sometimes over-appreciated, Pokémon a chance to shine. So when Pokémon Legends: Z-A teased the return of Mega Evolutions, it sent a Thunderbolt of excitement through the community.

Longtime fans are now dreaming again—wondering which Pokémon will finally get their moment in the Mega spotlight. Here are a few that desperately need it.

Let’s start with Aegislash. A ghostly sword possessed by royal energy, Aegislash is already a Pokémon with an identity—and mechanics—unlike any other. Its Stance Change ability makes it a master of offense and defense, but it's often stuck in a weird meta limbo due to its balanced stats and predictability.

A Mega Evolution could push Aegislash into true royal form—maybe a dual-bladed warrior or an ethereal spectral knight. Boosts to its Speed and offensive presence while retaining its signature stance switch could make it terrifying on the battlefield.

Mega Aegislash wouldn’t just be powerful—it’d be majestic.

Then there’s Goodra, the pseudo-legendary dragon with the heart of gold—and a very cute design that never quite screamed "threat."

While it has decent bulk and solid typing, Goodra is often overshadowed by its fellow pseudo-legends like Garchomp or Salamence, who already have bad-ass Mega Evolutions.

Imagine a Mega Goodra that leans fully into its gooey nature—becoming an amorphous, sludge-covered beast with enhanced defenses and a special ability like Acid Armor or Regen Goo that boosts survivability and kick-ass factor!

It could finally give Goodra the competitive edge it deserves while keeping its loveable charm.

Next up: the Kalos starters—and let’s be real, it’s time. While Greninja got its moment in the sun with the Ash-Greninja form, Chesnaught and Delphox were left in the shadows. Even Greninja’s transformation wasn’t a true Mega Evolution but a special ability. These three could seriously benefit from a Mega tier glow-up.

A Mega Chesnaught could become a towering flora-juggernaut with improved speed and bulk, Mega Delphox could tap deeper into its beastly mystical origins with a dual-wand or rune-inscribed form, and Mega Greninja could evolve from a ninja to a full-blown amphibious shadow assassin.

The Kalos trio is still one of the most popular starter lines, and fans would go wild for these overdue upgrades.

Now picture Hawlucha, the masked luchador of the Pokémon world with the heart of a champion. With high Speed and an eye-catching design, Hawlucha has always almost been great.

But it’s often ignored in favor of stronger Flying or Fighting-types. A Mega Evolution could push its wrestling theme to new heights—feathered cape, glowing mask, and a new ability like "Ring Master" that boosts priority moves or gives it an edge in one-on-one battles.

Hawlucha already oozes personality, but Mega Hawlucha would turn it into a high-flying show stealer!

And of course, Flygon—the fan-favorite speedster desert dragon who’s been teased for a Mega for years. It's practically a meme at this point. With its unique typing and sandstorm synergy, Flygon has long been overshadowed by its edgier cousin, Salamence.

A Mega Evolution could finally give Flygon the attention it deserves. Think crystallized wings, an unnecessary upgrade to its Speed, and an ability that turns weather in its favor. Flygon has earned its moment—and fans have been impatiently waiting far too long.

As Mega Evolution prepares for a grand return, fans are hoping it’s not just the old favorites getting the glow-up. These Pokémon represent untapped potential, clever design, and nostalgic hype. Once Pokémon Legends: Z-A brings Mega back, we can only hope it gives love where it’s long overdue.
