Best Games For PC Where Choices Matter

Best Games Where Choices Matter Games for PC

Making choices can be difficult in real life, but we can't avoid them. They're a part of our day-to-day lives and feel familiar, which may be why we are also drawn to video games that require us to make decisions that alter the story. These choices may be easy or difficult depending on the situation in the game, and may heavily influence the ending you'd get.

These games vary in genre; some are classified as horror, while others have a more supernatural nature. However, they are all great games to play if you're into games where choices matter.

Best Games Where Choices Matter for PC

Here are some of the best games where choices matter on the PC throughout the years. These are listed in no particular order.

Detroit: Become Human

Detroit: Become Human is an adventure game released in 2020 by Quantic Dream, where androids are becoming more intelligent than humans, but maybe even more than that.

It is heavily focused on the destiny of both androids and humans. You will be following various characters who are androids with different functions or roles in society.

These are amazing characters whose stories get fleshed out the longer you play, making you more attached to all of them. Each decision made will have an impact on the course of your game, and multiple endings are present. This allows you to replay the game, enabling you to explore all the possibilities.

Heavy Rain

Another great game from Quantic Dream is Heavy Rain. This is one of the earlier games where choices matter on the PC, and quite memorable for most players who are heavily interested in this genre.

The graphics are, of course, outdated. This game was initially released in 2011 and became available on Steam in 2020.

You will play as four different characters who have their own motives as to why they're investigating and figuring out who the person is behind the "Origami Killer," the murderer who leaves folded paper shapes in their crime scenes.

You need to think and act quickly, especially when making important choices, as this can ultimately determine who lives and who dies.

Until Dawn

For those who love the horror genre, Until Dawn is an incredible "Choices Matter" game. Eight friends host a reunion and return to the isolated mountain lodge where two of their friends vanished a year ago.

However, they're in for a wild ride. Instead of a peaceful retreat, remembering their lost friends, they face danger and are constantly trying to fight for their lives.

Every choice you make will either lead to characters living or dying. This game makes you feel that every move you make matters since the lives of the characters are in your hands. The story is excellent as well, and some of the twists are incredibly satisfying.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage

One of the newest games on this list is Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, developed and published by DON'T NOD. This is the same team that previously developed the first and second Life Is Strange games.

This was just released in March 2025 and is divided into two tapes. You will play as Swann and explore the two timelines: in the past, when you first meet your friends - Kat, Autumn, and Nora - and the present.

There are many secrets to be uncovered, such as why the girls chose not to stay in contact after the events of their childhood. The game is visually appealing, and it's honestly a lot of fun just collecting videos through Swann's camcorder. It can be a relaxing time, but timed responses can be anxiety-inducing.

Road 96

Road 96 is set in the Summer of 1996 and lets you see and explore its world through the eyes of different teenage hitchhikers. It takes you on an adventure by hitting the road through various means to flee and reach the border. You can walk, hitchhike, and more.

During these times, you'll meet interesting characters and discover how their stories come together. You will also find secrets on this journey.

While it covers serious topics and can be heavy at times, the characters you meet are charming in their own way. They have their own motives that differ from one another, which you get to explore. It's pretty random who you will be interacting with as you try to make your way to the border, so there's some thrill.

Life Is Strange

One of the most well-known "Choices Matter" games is Life Is Strange, including all its subsequent games. The first Life Is Strange game is iconic, as you play as Max and return to your hometown, where you encounter and save your best friend, Chloe, from danger.

You will also attempt to uncover the mystery of the missing student, Rachel Amber, and discover how each decision to rewind time has consequences. The original and remastered versions are available on the PC.

New titles in the Life Is Strange franchise are still being released, with the most recent being Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, which also follows Max's story years after the original. However, it will be up to you whether you love the succeeding titles. The soundtracks are always amazing in these games, though.

Make sure to think before you choose your next action or words in these games, but most of all, enjoy the adventure that these "Choices Matter" games take you on.
